Do you remember when you first started stock investing.. ?
These are some of the questions that were asked on a discussion forum.
My initial post, how exciting . I’ve been very interested in stock trading systems for the past while and I was wondering what it was like to be an independent trader. The freedom it seems to offer is so attracitive to me, but I think it would be important to talk to some people with trading experience before jumping to any conclusions about the day to day life of a day trader. So, these questions are for all of the independent traders out there:
- Are you satisfied? Why (not)?
- How did you first become an independent shares trader?
- What is your favorite memory about your time as a trader?
- Are you having any regrets?
- What do your friends/family think about this career that you’re active in?
- How much spare time do you actually have?
- etc. etc. etc.
- I want to know everything about the life of a day stock investor .
Thank you guys so much for your input, I really appreciate it.
Here is the first piece of advice that was given on the forum by an experienced trader:
Here would be my advice – since you live near the stock exchanges, dow jones, nasdaq etc, take some time and go to the trading pits and talk to a few the traders there – few if any will be trading mechanical type software systems. If that does not totally put you off trading for a living, try reading the book “winner take all” by Gallacher and an another book “fooled by randomness” by Taleb. If those two books don’t discourage you, then you might want to follow the idea you have a little longer.
I do stock trading for a living and I love it and I have a real passion for it – and I make money at it – but it is not for EVERYBODY – so be careful before you jump in – it can be a lot like gambling if you are not serious and diligent like in your approach – best wishes.
